A dollar was changed into 16 coins consisting of just nickels and dimes. How many coins of each kind were in the change?
Total amount of money = 1$ = 100cents.
Total number of coins = 16
Available denominations of coins = Nickels(N:5) and Dimes(D:10)
Given, N + D = 16
and 5N + 10D = 100
Solving the two equations:
10N+10D=160
5N+10D=100
5N = 60
N=12
If N =12,
12+D = 16
D = 16-12 = 4
There were 12 nickels and 4 dimes in the change.

How many nickels were contributed?
The XYZ club collected a total of $1.21 from its members with each member contributing the same amount. If each member paid for his or her share with 3 coins, how many nickels were contributed?
Total amount of money collected = 121¢
For each member to contribute the same amount, the number of members and amount should be factors of total amount.
i.e; 1, 11, 121
=>11*11=121, 11 members contributed 11¢ .
11¢ constituted of 3 coins. => it has to be 2 nickels and 1 penny.
Total 22 nickels were contributed.
So 11 members constituted 22 nickels.

How many coins of each kind?
I have 30 coins consisting of nickels and quarters. The total value of the coins is $4.10. How many of each kind do I have?
I have nickels and quarters => 5+25=30
Total value of coins = 410
The largest value divisible by 30 which is less than 410 is 13*30 = 390
Remaining value is 410-390=20 and number of coins is 13 nickels and 13 quarters.
=> 4 coins should make 20 cents i.e; 4 nickels.
So I have 17 nickels and 13 quarters.

How many coins do I have?
I have pennies, quarters, dimes in my piggy bank. If the total number of coins is 4 and the total value is 61¢. How many of each coin do I have?
As its mentioned I have pennies, quarters and dimes.. there should be one of each.
i.e; 1+25+10 = 36¢ and number of coins is 3
Remaining is 61-36=25¢ and there can be only one coin.
So the last coin should be a quarter.
I have 1 penny, 2 quarters and 1 dime.
